Back to Basics: ADHD 101
Health experts say that ADHD is the most common behavioral disorder that starts during childhood. Although it’s hard to predict who will develop ADHD or exactly why it occurs, the good news is that, with proper treatment, the prognosis for people with ADHD is good- they can lead extremely successful lives once they learn how to manage the disorder. This workshop will help to answer the following questions: What is ADHD? What are the general signs of ADHD in children? What causes ADHD? How is ADHD diagnosed and treated? What is not ADHD? Followed by Q and A with ADHD Parent Coach Cindy Goldrich

The challenges for living with & managing life with ADHD is well documented. Many mental health providers find there is no outpatient condition that is more impairing. However the GOOD NEWS is that according to ADHD experts, there is no outpatient condition in psychiatry, where one’s life can be turned around and changed so dramatically if properly diagnosed and treated! At the Fall Kickoff for the RRV Satellite of CHADD, we will view a video featuring ADHD experts Drs. Russell Barkley and Ned Hallowell and will discuss how to optimize your brain’s abilities in living with ADHD.

Special Class for Adults with ADHD:My Life is CHaos! Where to begin. Defining the Problems of Adult ADHD.
As frequently written by Ari Tuckman, it’s painfully clear that adults with
ADHD are struggling a lot more than folks without. Often mislabeled as “lazy” or “selfish”, the behaviors associated with Adult ADHD are related to brain based weaknesses in *executive function, *not lack of motivation, will, or character. The good news is
that with the growing awareness of Adult ADHD comes the development of
really good techniques and interventions to help folks with this very
unpredictable brain. Come learn where to begin in understanding what is
getting in the way of living your intentions.
