I grew up in the seventies during the Lost generation of children. We were judged, criticized, labeled, got no help. Therapy medication counselors were on their own.
Everything changed for me when I was six almost seven. I was labeled mentally retarded and slow due to communication in motor skills. There were no resources, medicine or counseling. We were on our own.
I think in patterns and algorithms and logic. That might be what saved me. Let’s jump to the end. I proved everybody wrong; I became a New York City board of education teacher. With a master’s degree in science.
