I was formally diagnosed in 2025 but have probably had it since childhood. It caused a strain on relationships and jobs, possibly attributed to ending my marriage.
With such a monumental change I have found surrounding yourself with supportive people and getting out even for walks massively helps to calm yourself and keep positive.
I recognize I am lucky to have a supportive family but even people who I work with have helped, and I also have a line manager that has ADHD so she shows a great deal of empathy.
I would say attending a support group even if it’s not a ADHD specific one and talking with people has really helped me become the most positive I remember ever being because easy irritability is a symptom of mine I am wanting to manage.
